Keeps getting better/Days 2 + 3

Sometimes I think I could spend more time writing than I do living.

Today was not one of those days, nor was yesterday — both were filled with all kinds of fun.

Yesterday flew by even though it was a day “off”:

Cheri and I ate our lunches together!

I hit the road late last night and made my way to Sarnia. The best part–or one of the highlights, anyway–was the 100.3 all Christmas time radio station coming in loud and clear for the tail end of the drive!

After some unpacking and hunting down some of my Christmas decorations/pajamas/socks/junk I crashed.

I woke up uber early today–think like 4:30am–and couldn’t get back to sleep. By 5am I was bored so I listened to Robb Wolf’s latest podcast and then started my heavily caffeinated day!

I made myself some eggs with nut butter, banana, and raisins for breakie.

I had a lovely morning coffee with Alysha, who makes me wish Sarnia and London were the same place. Alysha is becoming a life coach–something I am seriously interested in–and getting to see her absolutely radiate positivity and happiness and all good things made me oh so happy today! Needless to say, I’m inspired.

I spent the day with my momma supporting the US economy. Gotta love the good ol’ American dollar. Before you judge me, know that some part of your Christmas gift was probably in tow today when we came back with a carful of schtuff. I feel accomplished because I found what I wrote down I was looking for.

I also feel spoiled because I bought myself three books – Taming Your Gremlin and two by Gabby Bernstein-, 2 magazines (Outside, the box), coffee (pumpkin spice and gingerbread cookie flavoured), body wash, black boots, and jeans in my proper size. Leave it to the holiday season to inspire rampant consumerism in me…#sorryi’mnotsorry

My mom and I grabbed a quick lunch. I’m aware that the meat I ate wasn’t ideal–but a lettuce wrap on the go in a foreign country? I’ll call that a success.

My other eats, which escaped my camera today, were nuts galore, dried fruit, a bit of chocolate and a banana. I also polished off the last of my almond flour banana muffins before coming back to London this afternoon.

Did I mention I should go see a doctor about my hollow leg? I feel like a piggie! Beating myself up doesn’t work–and while I feel “guilty” over the volume of nuts/nut products/dried fruit I ate today, I’m choosing to move on. It was perfect timing for me to listen to an old episode of the Balanced Bites podcast about just this kind of thing–body composition, dieting, what’s ideal, etc. One thing I’ve realized for sure is that NO FOOD–nuts or whatever–should have power over me. It used to be croutons that “got me” — and I laugh about that now. Before the crouton stage, it was cereal. I’ll get over this too, and I don’t plan on replacing nuts with some other food.

When I got back to London, I stopped in at GFC and had myself checked and my power turned on.

I had one of those awesome days–though I’ll admit I was feeling tired and out of it–at CrossFit today. We went for our deadlift 1RMs and mine was a new 245lbs! I’m really excited about that. We also did rope climbing–always a fav–and I got to see my friends. Win, win, win, win, win!

This was perfect timing. Like I alluded to earlier, I was feeling a bit down about my eating. I also love that my body is changing but buying a new pair of bigger jeans to fit my newly growing lower body requires that reminder that I’m getting stronger and healthier–and my body is just an outcome of what I’m doing. Back to the post I wrote last week for the reminder, plus I had an AHA! moment when I thought about what would be different if I was at my leanest. The answer: I’d still be me, but I wouldn’t be healthy. By definition my body is healthy right now–for the sole reason that I’m doing healthy things.

Yes, I was lean as f*ck…

But now I’m strong as you know what…

That’s ONE arm doing a deadlift. I got up to 125lbs.

…not to mention healthy, fit, and most importantly–happy!

Anyways, enough worrying…

After CrossFit, I taught bootcamp to my biggest class yet on a Wednesday evening. Needless to say, that made me happy–even if I was tired!

When I got home I warmed up some leftover pumpkin chili, which I topped with some sautéed veggies and devoured in record time.

And somehow it is 11pm, I have a full day of work tomorrow plus teaching, fixing up the edited copy of my Paleo for Cyclists article, and getting back to my editor at Bankrate about what is quite possibly the most awesome story idea I’ve ever been assigned because it has to do with Christmas (how to hire a pro decorator!).

Did I mention today was awesome?
